CALL FOR ARTISTS:

As part of the fantastic YouAreHere festival ‘here and there’ will be running an artists sweatshop in a vacant shopfront.

Please keep in mind the following:
You will need to work from 9am – 5pm.
You need to be willing to discuss your work with anyone who walks in off the street.
You need to complete at least one artwork in that day.

We will be having a showing of work on the Saturday afternoon as well.

So if this sounds like something you would be interested in then please visit the facebook page or contact us here.

Group show and bake sale.

The first here and there show for two thousand and eleven is a summer picnic. It’s to help us get to know each other better.

You must bring a small work that fits inside your hands or can be hidden somewhere about your person. To look at someone’s work you must ask them, to show your work you must be asked. It seems secretive, but really it’s talking and sharing.

There will also be a small fundraiser in the form of cakes, with other things for sale too. If you would like to make some sweeties for us, that would be very nice.

Also bring this like blankets to sit on, hats to wear, liquids to drink. Everyone is welcome, so do also bring some friends.

Tech Show

The third show for here and there is an investigation into technology with works by Roy Marchant, Sharon O’Connor, TJ Phillipson and Heike Qualitz. These artists use a range of materials and processes to explore ideas surrounding technology and our interface with it.

Technology is part of the fabric of our lives, how do we engage with it? Do we embrace it or reject it, re purpose it or rename it? How do we personalise and modify our experience, in the constantly updated and temporary environment of our technological world?

boxes - Helen Braund

Not yet, the first show for here and there, features drawings by emerging Canberra artists Helen Braund, Daniel Edwards and Jennifer Edmunds. These three artists work in different mediums including textiles, photomedia and furniture but are linked by their use of drawing to think through ideas. The drawings in not yet occupy a space in between the artist’s initial idea and the finished work.
